Celebrate the feast of St. Valentine in the atmospheric ambience of 15th Century Bunratty Castle in Co. Clare

St. Valentine’s Day, February the 14th,  is fast approaching and those who are in love, or who would like to express their love for that someone special in their life, can celebrate the occasion in style at 15th century BunrattyCastle in Co. Clare.  Flickering candlelight, a sumptuous banquet of food and wine with musical entertainment provided by the world renowned Castle Entertainers, all the ingredients for an unforgettable celebration of love and romance in an unique fairytale setting.

Speaking about the event, John Ruddle, Chief Executive Shannon Heritage said: “BunrattyCastle, resplendent with medieval tapestries, furniture and artifacts, is the ideal venue to bring your loved one for a very special St. Valentine’s celebration. On crossing the drawbridge to the Castle, guests will be encouraged to leave the cares and worries of the 21st century behind them and instead to relax in the splendour of the Great Hall and experience the traditional warmth and hospitality of the Earls of Thomond. It is here the Earl and Lady are crowned for the evening and indeed it could be the chosen venue for a very romantic marriage proposal.”

“The evening begins with a mead reception on arrival, a goblet or two of the famous honeyed wine which according to ancient custom was drank by newlyweds for the first month of their married life, hence the word honeymoon.  Followed by a delicious four course meal with red and white wine served by the Ladies of the Castle, aided and abetted by the Earl’s Butler. After dinner guests are invited to sit back, relax and enjoy the musical entertainment, a selection of Irish medieval and traditional songs and instrumental pieces specially chosen for the occasion,” added Mr. Ruddle.

Pre-booking is necessary for the special St Valentine’s Weekend Banquets, on Thursday, February 14th at 5.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. and on Saturday, February 16th at 8.30 p.m. The cost is €35 per person and to book visit www.shannonheritage.com or call Shannon Heritage Reservations at 061-360788.
