‘Snap Happy’ as holiday snap yields €1,000 prize
Over 1,000 entries received in new 'Holiday Snaps' photo competition

Shannon Development has announced the winner of their 2009 ‘Holiday Snaps’ competition which attracted over 1,000 entries. The competition which ran over the summer invited people to submit their favourite holiday photographs from around the Shannon Region.
The winner of the competition was Viv O’Connor originally from the UK Midlands. Ms. O’ Connor has been a regular Shannon Region holidaymaker over the years and submitted a charming photo of the pier at Dromineer in North Tipperary.
“We’ve been coming to holiday at in the Shannon Region for the past 15 years, we love exploring the beautiful countryside, meeting the people, and especially enjoy cruising on Lough Derg. In fact we loved our experience so much that we have just moved here to live in Puckane,” said Ms. O’ Connor.
Presenting the €1,000 prize to Ms. O’Connor, John King Assistant Chief Executive said, “We were amazed and delighted with the huge level of interest in the Competition. It’s the first time we have done this kind of competition and we are delighted with the tremendous response. We had over 1,000 entries capturing wonderful holiday photos from every corner of the Region,”
Explaining the purpose of the competition he said, “This collection of truly stunning photos will be invaluable to us in our portrayal of the Region as a ‘must visit’ destination to potential holidaymakers. They will form part of our future tourism marketing promotions at home and overseas, and will be used in a range of print and online viral Shannon Region promotional campaigns.”
A range of short listed photos and the winning photo are on display in Shannon Development’s head office in Shannon Town Centre, or can be viewed online at Shannon Development’s short breaks website www.shortbreaksireland.ie
