Three Men in a Boat set to anchor in Limerick

 The BBC series “Three Men in a Boat”, produced by Liberty Bell Productions in London, is to be filmed in Ireland.  The crew will travel by boat from Dublin along the River Shannon culminating in a visit to Limerick. The Three Men team are Dara O’Briain, Griff Rhys-Jones and Rory McGrath.

Eoghan Prendergast, Shannon Development, Limerick Development Division Manager said: “This extremely popular programme has a huge fan base in the UK and will provide a major boost for Limerick and the Shannon Region. It is a fun programme and they will film wonderful scenery in the Shannon Region during their journey from Offaly through Lough Derg stopping off in Dromineer Killaloe and into Limerick.” 

 

They will be meeting a variety of characters and exploring many areas of interest and during their stay in the Shannon Region among them, Limerick city, Glenstal Abbey. They will film at Ardnacrusha and capture the amazing experience of sailing through the 60 feet lock. They will also film Bunratty Folk Park in Co. Clare and Leap Castle in Offaly.

“Three Men in a Boat" is an adaptation of Jerome K. Jerome’s novel which was based on a river journey between Kingston and Oxford on the Thames. The BBC take on the novel will see Dara O’Briain, Rory McGrath and Griff Rhys-Jones travel from Dublin using the Grand and Royal Canals on an old Guinness barge to Mullingar. They will then continue their journey travelling overland to the Royal Canal, joining up with the Shannon. The aim of their journey is to finally arrive in Limerick, having experienced many adventures along the route.
