Two Shannon organisations celebrate their 50th anniversary
Shannon Development and Skal Shannon were founded 50 years ago this year by the late Dr Brendan O’Regan. To commemorate the occasion, the President of Skal International, Ms. Hulya Aslantas, and members of the Skal International Shannon branch, paid a visit Shannon Development’s head office in Shannon Town Centre.
They were greeted by Chris Meehan from Shannon Development who welcomed the President to the Shannon Region. During her visit to the Region Ms. Aslantas officiated at the Skal International Convention which took place in Limerick from the 27th to 29th March. Over 100 Skal members and their families from all over Ireland attended the event. A programme of activities to showcase the Region was drawn up by Shannon Development. As part of the event the group attended a medieval banquet at Bunratty Castle, and enjoyed a tour of the Burren, including a lunch stop at the Cliffs of Moher.
“We were delighted to welcome this influential group of tourism representatives. Skal is a professional organisation of tourism leaders from around the world, promoting global tourism and friendship. Its members meet at local, national, regional and international levels to network and discuss topics of common interest, and we were delighted that they chose the Shannon Region to host their Irish convention,” said Mr. Meehan.
