EU Tourism and Transport Group visit Clare

Shannon Development today (Monday 23rd  February ’09) briefed a group of influential MEP’s from the UK, Germany, Hungary and Romania. The group, members of the European Union Transport and Tourism Committee, were in Co. Clare on a fact finding mission.

The visit of the group was secured by Northwest MEP Seán Ó Neachtáin. The European Union has key powers concerning transport, aviation and regional policy as well as the promotion of broadband and research and technology initiatives and the purpose of the trip was to bring together key economic and political players to discuss these issues.

As part of the schedule of meetings during their visit, the group were briefed by Pat Daly from Shannon Development. Mr. Daly gave the group a presentation on the work of Shannon Development as Ireland’s only regional development Company.

“We were delighted to have the opportunity to brief this key group and we hope that the visit will result in a boost for the Shannon region’s international profile,”said  Mr. Daly. The group also visited Bunratty Castle and Folk Park and were briefed by John Ruddle, Chief Executive, Shannon Heritage.
