Shannon, 5 February 2009. Commenting on the Ryanair decision to reduce its services at Shannon Airport, Dr Vincent Cunnane, chief executive, Shannon Development, said, “We are naturally disappointed at this news, however, we are fully committed to continuing to work with Ryanair and the Airport Authority to help grow traffic into Shannon”.
Dr Cunnane continued “For example, as part of our tourism marketing efforts last year, Shannon Development undertook a joint tourism marketing campaign with Ryanair to promote the Shannon Region in the UK and German markets. This campaign resulted in over 160,000 visitors to the region, 240,000 ‘bednights’, and over €19 million in tourism spend. We plan to undertake further marketing campaigns with Ryanair this year”
