Shannon Development, the Regional Tourism Authority for Ireland’s Shannon Region recently welcomed UK visitors Graeme Blackmore and Tim Manhire to Limerick City. They were winners of a special Shannon Development Competition organised as part of a major UK tourism promotion in Cardiff last May organised around the Heineken Cup Final.
The prize proved to be a major draw and hundreds of entries were received, it included return flights to the UK, 3 nights B&B accommodation at the Limerick Strand, visits to a number of the Tourism Delights in the city and two prized match tickets to the Munster v All Black game for the official opening of Thomond Park.
“The competition was very successful in raising the awareness of Thomond Park, Munster Rugby and Limerick City in the UK. I was delighted to find out that Graeme, although a Harlequins fan, had a life long ambition to see Munster play at Thomond Park. The prize winners thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Limerick City and have promised to return in the future with their family and friends. We now have two more ambassadors for the Shannon Region in the UK,” said John Brassil, Chairman, Shannon Development.
Speaking about his trip to Limerick Graeme Blackmore said "This trip has been a dream come true. From meeting the All Blacks, watching Munster play at Thomond Park and meeting the best supporters in the Europe, this has been an excellent trip. We will be recommending a visit to Limerick City to all our friends and colleagues in the UK."
