Major expansion announced for Tipperary Technology Park

A major expansion for Tipperary Technology Park (TTP), Thurles, Co. Tipperary, has just been announced by Shannon Development. The Company has revealed that it will undertake work on a new 21,500 sq. ft. 2-storey office building at the Park for which planning permission has recently been secured. Construction work on the new building is expected to commence before the end of the year, with the build anticipated to take 12 months to complete.

Making the announcement Vincent Cunnane, Chief Executive, Shannon Development said, “Shannon Development’s role is to lead and encourage regional development in the Shannon Region. To fulfil this role it is important that the Company has a comprehensive property portfolio that includes a variety of options for potential businesses. We are delighted to say that our current two buildings at Tipperary Technology Park have almost reached maximum capacity, and the new building will give us much needed additional space for both new and existing clients.”

“Tipperary Technology Park currently provides a range of business accommodation in the form of business start-up and expansion units, with office suites ranging in size from 200sq.ft. to 5,000sq.ft. In addition to providing additional enterprise space, the new building will provide a beneficial spin-off for the Thurles community, stimulating demand for a whole range of services and facilities,” he added.

To-date Shannon Development has invested €3.8 million in developing TTP which was officially opened in 2000. The current Park comprises two buildings 20,000sq.ft, and 5,000 sq. ft. building respectively. The Park currently accommodates 10 companies operating nationally and internationally. Clients range from those operating in the cutting edge sphere of nano-biomaterials, to clients in digital cinema and the international services sector.

“Among the strong selling points that Thurles and Tippeary Technology Park has to attract industrialists is an exceptional quality of life, clean environment, minimised traffic problems, lack of congestion and affordable housing in comparison with other urban centres. The marketing of the new building will be undertaken by Shannon Development in conjunction with the Thurles Marketing Group and the Tipperary Ambassadors Programme,” says Brian Keating, Development Manager Tipperary Technology Park.

The Park is one of five Shannon Development Knowledge Network business parks developed around the Shannon Region to cater for the needs of investors and business entrepreneurs.
