A group of over 36 business people who organise travel incentive programmes for top UK companies and organisations were brought on a tour of the Shannon Region recently by UK Travel Company Travelscope. The familiarisation tour was organised in association with CIE Tours International, Stena Line, Tourism Ireland UK and Shannon Heritage.
The purpose of the visit was to promote incentive and business travel to Ireland from the UK market. The group were taken on a tour of the Shannon Region to show them what’s on offer both for tourists and incentive clients. A carefully tailored itinerary was arranged for the group to showcase the Region’s beautiful scenery and range of superb visitor attractions suitable for both young and old. They also got to see an array of top class hotels, restaurants and enjoy unique experiences such as the Bunratty Medieval Banquet and the Cliffs of Moher experience.
Many of the representatives from these companies are the principal bookers within their organisations and it was therefore essential that they experience first hand the packages and trips they organize for their staff and clients. It was important for them to check out the facilities, services and amenities in the Region to ensure they are of top quality and reach the high standards expected by top company executives.
Before their departure the group reported that their stay in the Shannon Region was a huge success, with many of the group remarking that they will be back. Among the highlights they listed were the Medieval Banquet at Bunratty Castle, The Edge Experience at the Cliffs of Moher, a walking tour of Limerick city and a visit to King Johns Castle. They group stayed in the Absolute Hotel in Limerick and did site inspections of other local hotels.
