“We would like to congratulate all the Shannon Region communities who participated once more and most especially Birdhill who won the much coveted award for Ireland’s Tidiest Village. We were particularly delighted last year when the first Schools Award in the competition was won by Scoil Athain from Lisnagry, Co. Limerick, and we are delighted to see that they have retained this title again this year,” said Kevin Thompstone, Chief Executive, Shannon Development.
“These awards are a fantastic achievement for the Shannon Region an even greater achievement when you know that over 800 communities nationwide were vying for these awards. The selfless work of Tidy Towns Committees throughout our Region deserves the greatest praise and recognition, and we look forward to acknowledging these award winners, and all Shannon Region participants, at our annual awards ceremony shortly,” said Mr. Thompstone.
